Two special charity birthday parties were held on Thursday 6th April 2006 at Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr and on Friday 7th April 2006 at Caper House Play Barn in East Kilbride, for one-year-old Musical Minis. This very popular music group has been operating in the South West Scotland area for exactly a year.
Claire Clint & Liz Rowe who are the local franchisees for Musical Minis, said, “We are delighted that so many children have passed through Musical Minis in this area in such a short time. We are really pleased that parents have chosen to give their child’s early development such a boost by coming along to our classes.”
Claire & Liz combined their celebrations with raising funds for charity. Through tickets sales and sponsored events they raised £ 1850 for the National Autistic Society for Daldorch House School and £ 850 for Sonny Crawford, a member of their Blantyre class who has autism and whose family are currently raising money to take him to a treatment centre in America.
GMTV’s Lorraine Kelly said “I think it is really great that an organisation like Musical Minis has been set up in the area in which I grew up. Its aim to help children achieve their full potential irrespective of their background or circumstance is one I fully support. I would have really liked to have been at their first birthday party and I am sorry I couldn’t attend. Well done to all the children who raised money for Sonny and the National Autistic Society. I wish Musical Minis the very best of luck.”
